The other day, I went to a Veteran's Day Assembly at one of the middle schools where I sub. I heard some nice poems and essays expressing appreciation for those who served and saw a nice presentation showing pictures of veterans in the area. Then, a local teacher that all the kids knew got up in uniform. He was a sergeant major. He made a speach about being unselfish, doing things for others. Then, someone read a list of names of veterans to come down and be recognized. About fifteen people, men and women, came down and stood in line.
Well, I filled out one of their forms saying I'd be there, but they didn't call my name. Someone did say that anyone else who is a veteran should come down and be recognized, but I didn't want to draw attention to myself that way. I slipped out and left. Yes, I'm a veteran, but I guess I didn't belong in that group. I didn't want to crash the party.
Had I been allowed to speak, I would have disagreed with the sergeant major. I would have said that if one's government is protecting one's individual rights, than it would be in one's self-interest to serve that government. And, our government is supposed to protect our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Yes, we do serve to protect others, our family and fellow countrymen, but this is because it is in our self-interests to do so. It is not unselfish.
Had I been allowed to speak, I would have said I had no criticism of conscientious objectors who choose not to go to Vietnam, even though I went. I would have said that I had no criticism of those who would like to get out of Iraq and think we should not have gotten into that situation in the first place. This is where some people may boo me, but I would say that part of why I served in the military was to protect our freedom of speech, even the speech of those who want to condemn what I say.
Had I been allowed to speak, I would have spoken on behalf of my father, who was a second generation Japanese American who fought in the 442nd Division during WWII and received a purple heart, while his parents and family were interned in a relocation center in Tule Lake, California, but was still discriminated against when he returned to the states.
I would have reminded these people that there is still a lot of hatred around here. There are people who hate all Arabs, Iranians, Iraqis, and Muslims. I would try to tell people that they shouldn't do that.
Today, I subbed in an 8th grade English class where we read a story about an old Native American who was taken, by this government, from his home and loved ones and sent to a boarding school. Later, his son died overseas fighting for this government. Can we imagine how he felt?
bis bald,
Nick

3:48 p.m. centerville public library,
A couple of days ago i was in the latrine,a shower was close by my freind in wich i work with is a very cool carrector a nice person he coaches a football team i beleive defence for the Maritime in wich is located over the Cape Cod Bridge i'll have to do some checking i think it's where the field is,
anyhow he mentioned to me are'nt you in the shower yet, the shower is in the same room wich i am well you know latrine type duty, i mentioned rite off my chest muscles are moveing, no reply, something else was said a bit afterwards possibly the same thing i'm not sure now though within the peacefull moment i thought of my possition and quickly refered myself as a person from long ago perhaps the period of the 1700's and all i saw was three things A Horse A Ship and A Plank i again mentioned these property's to David he also may i add searved in the Marines and over seas i'm 45 he is a few or so years younger, my standard about the three things ocupying my mind was halarious david often repremands my language perhaps if he would read something of mine this would continue i apretiate it;
well the horse as oviously notice the gentelman Flexing his chest muscles and wich then has performed a laugh quite the ordeal since a horse perhaps can laugh and in different ways suddle heavily load or quietly interesting i though so after a bit i ventured into the house as where my female companion is not knowing of the guests it is now a surprise to me as for i had continued the flexing thing,
well after a bit of the passing day my female companion was taking me aside to explain how i was an idiot,
weel i ventured towards my ship after a while and boarded myself and the plank onwards i venture to good old England for duty for i am one of representation towards a crown about half way there i had a decition to purchase a gift for my horse a saddle perhaps and i though this is good though what would the horse have of resemblance to this erea in wich from so i quickly refer to a scentable thing and now with my goods and thought of going back to the provence i wondered about my female friend and the horse secured in our settlement of location i thought how busy often she is during the day and taking time to venture alone in the wind or gallo of a segment of trees till my thought brought me to the horse how she just gazed about it in perhaps a nothing matter i then thought of the time when she had refered to me as being an idiot, the plot here is recognition towards the horse and i as i would round myself to think of this as a local sittuation and possibly the horse would have a motive along.
interesting ;to one royal to another certainly these words are of a bit of interest,
Representing/Realm/and the comparison of Local Motive and Locamotive my research continues with a good train and then a great or good rail so far my invintation to a train would be a gathering of hats easily heading towards a cave perhaps a mine well Happy Holidays 4:18 p.m.e.s.t.
