Contributors

SHERRIE GOSSETT, TNI’s indispensable managing editor, debuts here as a contributing writer with a probing, eye-opening look back at the Clinton administration’s altruistic war in Kosovo. Sherrie is a veteran investigative reporter who broke important stories as a freelance journalist and during stints with the Cybercast News Service and Accuracy in Media. Our staff Renaissance Woman also has excelled in marketing, research, and public relations positions—and as a professional rock/blues guitarist! For what it’s worth, Sherrie tells us that she’s an “INTP,” which may explain a lot. Or not. Regardless, we’re damned lucky to have her.

ROGER DONWAY is a senior research fellow at the Institute for Energy Research. In his capacity as TNI’s senior editor, he contributes here regularly as an essayist and reviewer. The following pages feature not only another of Roger’s thoughtful book reviews but also the debut of his new monthly column, “Private I.” He promises that the column will deliver unexpected perspectives on important issues, and his inaugural piece, about campus speech and behavioral codes, doesn’t disappoint.

SCOTT WHEELER is TNI’s investigative editor. With this issue, we are proud to introduce his new monthly intelligence report, “Sentinel.” A highly respected investigative journalist, Scott consults on intelligence matters for counterterrorism researchers. While a TV correspondent, he worked undercover to expose a WMD pipeline run from the Middle East. His 2003 reports on espionage against U.S. defense contractors exposed a foreign spy, and he worked undercover to break news on Hamas operations within America. Scott’s work has been cited in major media, government reports, congressional investigations, and criminal prosecutions. Several of his reports have been on the desk of the President of the United States.

EDWARD L. HUDGINS, executive director of The Atlas Society, is another featured contributor to these pages. His most recent essays for the magazine dissected the philosophical disintegration of the Republican Party, and addressed the question: Can a secular philosophy provide people with spiritual enrichment? This time, he interviews noted skeptic and humanist Michael Shermer.

ROBERT L. JONES, TNI entertainment editor, pens most of our monthly film reviews. He’s also a noted photographer, a classical music expert, and an enthusiastic film buff with an encyclopedic knowledge of old movies. To kick off the new year, Robert takes a look at two recent theatrical releases: the uplifting Gridiron Gang and the downbeat Flags of Our Fathers.
