Registration Information

Seminar Fees

Early Registration (received by April 21, 2003 April 30, 2003): $895 per person includes your choice from over 70 hours of scheduled presentations, participant sponsored sessions, Seminar materials, lunch on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, coffee breaks, the opening cookout, and the closing banquet and dance. The fee increases to $995 on April 22, 2003 May 1, 2003. All registrations must be received by May 26 June 15.

Membership discounts: Sustaining members, Sponsors, Benefactors, and Patrons of the Center are eligible for a 10% discount on the conference fee. According to IRS regulations, this discount may reduce the deductible portion of your contributions to the Center. Contact TOC for details.

Students: Full-time students and recent graduates (those who graduated from a full-time program in 2001 or later) may attend the Seminar at the reduced fee of $275. Student scholarship options. Be a Conference Assistant

Accommodations and Meal Plan

Charges for accommodation and meals as described below are not included in the basic conference fee. (That fee does cover lunch on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and the Saturday and Friday dinners.)

On-Campus Accommodations: Arrangements for on-campus accommodations can be made through the Center until May 26 June 15.The accommodation prices include breakfast each morning (Sunday - Saturday) and dinner on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Accommodations for seven nights (Saturday night through Friday night inclusive) are available in Copley South Residence, a 3-4 minute walk from the dining hall and an 8-10 minute walk from the lecture halls. Each airconditioned suite has two or three bedrooms, a shared bath, living room, and kitchenette. Each bedroom within the suite is either single or double occupancy with a twin bed, bureau, desk, and chair for each occupant (most desks have built-in lights). The kitchenette has a sink, small refrigerator, and microwave. No utensils or cookware are provided. Participants with laptops that have an ethernet card and cable can simply plug into the data ports that exist in each bedroom and living room. There is no daily or weekly cleaning service provided. Coin operated laundry facilities are located in the building.

Please keep in mind that the number of single rooms available in the suites is limited, and will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.

NOTE: Everyone who has previously registered for accommodations at the Summer Seminar will be in Falcone Residence Halls. Everyone who registers for a single from this point forward will be in Copley South Residence. There are some doubles left in Falcone and they will be released on a first come first served basis. When they run out, the remaining doubles will be in Copley South. To see where these halls are on campus, please see the campus map. http://www.bentley.edu/directions/mapp.html. Copley South is marked J-14 on the map, and Falcone is J-1.

As a point of reference, the main lecture halls will be in the buildings marked D and E (Adamian Academic Center and Lindsay Hall), and the afternoon breakout sessions will be in A (LaCava Campus Cente). Meals and the Common Room will be in L (New Student Center).

Pricing: Single: $460 Extended stay option: $45 per night. Double $295 per person. Extended stay: $25 person/night.

Payment of these charges should be included with the seminar fee.

Off Campus Accommodations: A limited number of rooms have been arranged at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Waltham, the area’s only full-service, all-suite hotel. Located just three miles from campus, the hotel offers an indoor pool, whirlpool, exercise room, and sauna. Each guest suite is furnished with a separate living room and bedroom, wet bar and refrigerator. The daily room rate for single or double occupancy is $109 per night plus taxes. Payment of these charges should NOT be included with the conference fee. The hotel will offer a complimentary shuttle to and from campus once each morning and once each afternoon, as well as a complimentary coffee/tea/decaf station each morning. Please make arrangements directly with the hotel at (781)890-6767 by June 6. Mention “The Objectivist Center Conference” to obtain our negotiated discount rate.

Hotel guests and others staying off-campus must make their own arrangements for the breakfasts and dinners included in the dormitory meal package.

One-Day Package

A special one-day only package is available on Friday, July 4, for the reduced fee of $145. This package covers the final day of the program, including lunch, coffee breaks, and the closing banquet. Overnight accommodations are available in the Copley South Residence (space permitting) for the extended stay rates indicated under the On-Campus Accommodations description. Participants are also welcome to make arrangements off-campus as described above.

Parking Permits and Transportation

Parking permits are required at all times for all vehicles parked on campus. If you plan on having a vehicle on-campus, you MUST sign up for a parking permit on the registration form. Parking permits are free of charge. If you do not sign up for a permit prior to the conference, you will be unable to obtain one when you arrive on campus. There are no exceptions.

Transportation to and from the seminar is the responsibility of participants. There will be a shuttle operating between Logan International Airport and Bentley College during limited hours on June 28 and July 5.

Discount Airfares

American Airlines, the official carrier for The Objectivist Center Summer Seminar, is offering an exclusive discount fare for our participants. You will receive a 5% discount on the lowest applicable fare, purchased 7 days in advance. An additional 5% discount will apply when tickets are purchased at least 30 days in advance of your travel. Discount zoned fares are also available. These discounts may not be combined with other discounts or promotions, and are valid for travel between June 23 and July 8, 2003. To obtain these discounts on your flight, call American Airlines Meeting Desk at (800)433-1790 and refer to Star number A2963AR.

Cancellation Policy

Written cancellation requests received by April 21, 2003, will receive a full refund; those received by May 26 June 15, 2003, will receive a 60% refund. All charges are non-refundable after May 26 June 15.

Conference Assistants

A separate application form is required to apply for one of the working positions at the Seminar. Contact the Center at 1-800-374-1776 to have one sent to you. Applications are due by April 21, 2003.
