Susan McCloskey, Ph.D.
Course Description:
The characters in The Fountainhead speak often about loveof the world and of their work, for themselves and one another. In this lecture, Susan McCloskey will focus on the meanings of love and the literary techniques through which Rand developed this theme. What exactly are her characters talking about and experiencing? How does Rand’s view of love influence her choices about plot, characterization, narrative structure, and literary form? Dr. McCloskey is the president of McCloskey Writing Consultants, a former professor of English literature, and a frequent lecturer at the Summer Seminar.
