Guerilla Activism: How One Individual Can Wage—and Win—Ideological Battles

—Robert Bidinotto

Course Description:

Cultural change depends upon effectively spreading new philosophical ideas. But how can one person be heard amid millions of voices clamoring for public attention? How can an individual—alone, and on a shoestring—compete with organized non-profits and well-heeled propagandists? In this course of two lectures and a workshop, Robert Bidinotto will outline principles that anyone can apply to wage and win philosophical and political battles. Drawing upon basic ideas from marketing, and upon examples of lone individuals who became hugely influential, he will offer a blueprint that any activist can follow to wage successful "guerilla warfare" on the battlefield of ideas.

For three decades Robert Bidinotto has spread Objectivism as a professional "guerilla activist." At The Objectivist Center he was a writer, speaker, fundraiser, and audio producer. But he has also been a political campaign manager, organizer, self-publisher, editor, talk show guest, and book marketer. He first gained national prominence as an expert on crime, with two books and award-winning journalism for Reader's Digest. He then repeated this success, achieving an international reputation in the field of environmentalism. He currently publishes a Web site, ecoNOT.com, challenging environmentalism on philosophic grounds.
