On April 15, 2009 Ed Hudgins braved pouring rain and a heckler to speak to a crowd of well over 1,000--some say it was closer to 2,000--in front of the Treasury and White House at the Washington, D.C. Tea Party, to explain what it is to "Go Galt!"

*On April 14, 2009 Hudgins made brief remarks at a Tax Day press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., organized by Americans for Tax Reform, also to explain "Going Galt!"

David Kelley in a Cato Institute Book Forum forA Life of One's Own: Individual Rights and the Welfare State, November 19, 1998

A book forum featuring author David Kelley of The Atlas Society (then the Institute for Objectivist Studies) and critic William Galston of the Brookings Institution. The welfare state rests on the assumption that people have the right to food, shelter, health care, retirement income, and other goods provided by the government. David Kelley examines the historical origins of that assumption, which, he shows, is deeply flawed. Welfare "rights," he argues, are incompatible with freedom, justice, and true benevolence, and they have damaged the genuine welfare of those who can least afford to become dependent on the government.
