Seminar Deadline Is June 14

June 14 is the registration deadline for the TOC Summer Seminar. This year's seminar is being held in Vancouver, British Columbia, from July 3 through 10. David Kelley will be doing two major presentations in addition to his regular "State of the Culture" presentation and appearing on a panel. The first will be "What Knowledge is." This presentation focuses on the definition of knowledge and extends Dr. Kelley's work in epistemology. The second presentation is entitled "Islamic Philosophy: The Good, the Bad and the Dangerous." Kelley will discuss the philosophical roots of Islamic terrorism in this two-part presentation.

Kelley will also be a panelist on the subject "Objectivism and Libertarianism: A Reassessment."

Nathaniel Branden will once again speak at the Summer Seminar. His topic is "New Reflections on Self-Esteem." Duncan Scott will also interview Dr. Branden as a part of The Objectivist History Project.

Other faculty members include Stephen Hicks, Lindsay Perigo, Edward Hudgins, Sam Kazman, Tibor Machan, Robert Poole, Robert Bidinotto, Michael Newberry, Alexandra York, Mimi Gladstein, Madeleine Cosman, Eric Mack and Douglas Rasmussen.

In addition to excellent presentations the Summer Seminar is an unparalleled opportunity to meet other Objectivists from around the world. A highlight each Summer Seminar is the great variety of participant sponsored seminars. The Common Room is a popular place to socialize with a variety of interesting people.

The campus of the University of British Columbia is situated on a forested peninsula surrounded by ocean beaches, scenic parks, and a golf course. Whether it is sailing, swimming, fishing, hiking, skiing, golf or tennis recreational opportunities abound. Vancouver has a world-class museum and symphony orchestra, as well as opera, theatre and dance companies on the cutting edge of contemporary arts. Festivals proliferate throughout its mild summer. Numerous music venues provide a hotbed for up-and-coming rock bands and a burgeoning jazz scene. With a rare blend of cosmopolitan amenities, natural splendor and cultural attractions Vancouver is truly one of a kind.

Of course there is also the social life that takes place over meals and in the Common Room. The people who attend the Seminar are as important to the whole experience as are the intellectual content and location. The Seminar now attracts top students and scholars, successful professionals, leaders of local Objectivist organizations, political activist, and people from all walks of life who have come together to form a new and vibrant community.

Don't delay. Prices go up after May 5. Sign up online at the TOC website or call the Center at (800) 374-1776.
